Cheapshot: How the fuck did you get so handsome?? Seriously, what’s your secret?

Mike Scott: Yo, it’s funny you should mentioned that because around Kansas City in sometimes referred to as “The Fat Missouri Johnny Depp” it’s a title that I support with every calorie I take in. God just hands out Golden Tickets to some people when it comes to looks and I was at the front of the line that day. I also work out once a year and watch men’s water polo.

Cheapshot: You’re a guy who was born in New Orleans and moved to Kansas City. How the golly heck did you get into DJing??

Mike Scott: This question makes no sense whatsoever – the origin of my birth has nothing to do with Me ending up in Kansas City , but New Orleans did give me my start into dj’n in 87′ (oops showing my age now) – Funny thing is I grew up in new Orleans and was around people like Gregory D & Mannie Fresh and that’s who kinda showed me what I wanted to do with my life. That is why I stopped being a Gangbanger in the ghetto and starting playing records at the Skate Rink.

Cheapshot: You are one of Kansas City’s busiest DJ’s. Aside from your talent, what do you attribute that to?

Mike Scott: I have always been a hustler for action. With the years of experience and dedication to the game of DJ’n I feel that it has Not gone unnoticed that I am a True OG.

Cheapshot: What is the DJ scene like in KC?

Mike Scott: The DJ Scene in KC is saturated like every other cities scene. If you have a laptop then by all means you are Now a DJ. The game has changed a bit since Serato. I get it it and I even embrace it now however I did like back in the day being in demand because we were the only guys who bought the records. (Cue the Ahmad)

Cheapshot: If you were the Obama of disc jockey’s, what would you change about the game?

Mike Scott: I know nothing of politics and see no difference in who is running our country. Nothing ever comes out of this for me. As for the DJ scene in KC I would like to teach the Art of DJs to kids and am already doing so – (here’s my plug) - thedjinstitute.com

Cheapshot: Who has better food…New Orleans or KC? Don’t be a non-partial pussy either!

Mike Scott: This question makes me laugh – you can’t be serious on this shit. There is NO comparison here. Yeah KC has good BBQ (That’s It) New Orleans has it all CREOLE FLAVOR…haven’t you ever heard the phrase “put a little south in your mouth.” The downfall to being a fish out of water here in KC is the lack of seafood and spice, this is why I return home to New Orleans so often.

Cheapshot: What can you tell us about Driver’s, the location for Kansas City Fire Poo?

Mike Scott: I know nothing of Driver’s other than my friend Pete Aldrete owns the spot (so he says) and that it sits in the middle of Kansas away from everything. However I do like the fact that it sits in the middle of Kansas away from everything and there is no DJ booth. I hear they have a lot of TV’s and are buying 6 boxes of fresh wings for us on Saturday. (sweet)

Cheapshot: Do you think Kansas City Fire Poo will be a success or will it just be you and I sharing a Strawberry milkshake and feeding each other wings?

Mike Scott: I have no idea on the outcome of Fire Poo on Saturday. You know KC is like all cities when it comes to competition an we as Local DJ’s will just have to squash the beef and eat chicken (you can use that if you like) as for the strawberry milkshake I will reserve a table in the back for you and me.

Cheapshot: Brag about all your upcoming gigs and social media links so people think you’re cool.

Mike Scott: I always let everybody know about what I am doing on a regular basis. The DJ Summer camp is happening this year. The DJ School will open this year. I am still programming the music for Sporting KC (soccer) and have plans with Royals for All Star Game. I also Have been doing a lot of remodeling on my house making it more New Orleans like outside and in (if you want pictures let me know). And my YOGA game is on point!!!!!!!!!!!

We got a chance to catch up with co-host  DJ Scooter of Sleeping Giant Music. He’s got some really interesting stories from his past, including one from his gig with Ron Jeremy.  This is also the only interview where someone decided to start yelling halfway through a quarter of the way into the interview.  Read on!!

Fire Poo:  What are your thoughts on Fire Poo and what’s your opinion on the fact that its finally coming to San Diego?

Scooter:  Fire Poo makes my ass hurt and I love things that make my ass hurt.  Chicken, beer and a room full of djs.  Who can ask for anything more?

Fire Poo:  What’s your favorite wing flavor and why?  Are you excited for these wings from Dirty Birds?

Scooter:  RPG…NINJA AND THE ITALIAN STALLION.   ALL ASS FIRE FLAMERS

Fire Poo: We managed to dig up an old interview and read that you once DJed for Ron Jeremy’s front man in a porn talk show pilot episode.  Tell us all about it.  What was it like being on that set??

Scooter:  WOW.   CRAZY.   I WAS COLOR MAN, LIKE A  KEVIN EUBANKS TO HIS JAY LENO.  IT WAS SUPER PROFFESSSIONAL AND HAD A FULL SCRIPT WE HAD TO FOLLOW BUT THE SCRIPT WAS SILLY.   ONE EPISODE I HAD TO BATTLE A SPEAK AND SPELL THAT RON BROUGHT OUT.  ANOTHER EPISODE HE PERFORMED THE PROPER WAY TO DO ANAL.  MADDESS.   THE  BEST PART IS WE HAD THESE WIRELESS MICS ON AND BETWEEN TAKES RON WOULD GO BACK TO THIS SEX DUNGEON THAT WAS OFF CAMERA AND START HAMMERING THESE PORN STARS BUT HE WOULD HAVE THE MIC ON THE WHOLE TIME JUST GRUNTING AND TALKING DIRTY SO EVERYONE COULD HEAR  LOL!!  

Fire Poo: If you were lost in the forest..which of the two Sleeping Giant DJs would you want on your team to help you survive and find a way home?

Scooter: HELP ME SURVIVE?  MMMMMM……PROBABLY MIKEY BEATS.   IF IT CAME DOWN TO IT HE’S THE BIGGEST DUDE SO I COULD EAT HIM.  LOL

Fire Poo:  What’s your favorite remix that you’ve done so far?

We got a chance to interview the Owner of Dirty Birds – Leigh Gibson.  We will be having Fire Poo San Diego at his restaurant on April 29th.  Read on for a sneak peek of what to expect.

Fire Poo: What is Dirty Birds best known for in San Diego?

Leigh: We are all about Chicken Wings, 30 different sauces to be exact!

Fire Poo:  Dirty Birds has had some awards won for its wings.  Can you tell us about some of them and which one are you most proud of?

Leigh:  Hands down when we were named Top 10 Wings in America by thedailymeal.com and Yahoo Sports. Shortly after Yahoo  picked up the article and it ran on their homepage for a couple of days, the response was unbelievable!

Fire Poo:  According to the poll on your site, your customers like the Maple Chipotle BBQ.  Aside from that one, what are your top 3 favorite wing flavors?

Leigh:  My top 3 are Dirty Bleu (a mixture of bleu cheese and hot sauce), Garlic Parm (tossed in fresh garlic butter and covered in parmesan cheese) and the 3 Pete BBQ (we bake ‘em, then fry ‘em, then toss them in more sauce and fry ‘em again).

Fire Poo:  I noticed you use a lot of interesting marketing strategies like giving away free wings for a year to your millionth customer.  What are some other tricks up your sleeve?

Leigh:  Thanks for noticing, we try to take a different approach to marketing than most bars. Lately we have been working with a PR firm ( J Public Relations) to help us spread the word of the BIRD.

Fire Poo:  Do you have any dirt of any of the Sleeping Giant guys that we should know about?

Leigh:  Now that wouldn’t be right would it? I have known most of them for over 10 years now and cannot sling any dirt without incriminating myself.
